I think every NBA Top Shot sicko will admit that whenever we rip a pack, we’re convinced we’re about to pull the 1/1 or the best moment possible. On April 22nd, 2026, that actually happened to me.
Let me set the scene: I’m standing in my kitchen in the middle of the afternoon, slaving away baking cookies, when the Nickeil Alexander-Walker “Top Shot This Playoff Edition” pack dropped into my account. I set a 7-minute timer and decided to rip it. I thought about hitting record but told myself, “What’s the point?”… and right then, I, Banana Mac, pulled the 1/1 Omega.I was screaming, shaking, covered in goosebumps. (No cookies were harmed in the process, by the way.) I immediately took the rip to Twitter.
Now you might be wondering: “Banana Mac, are you gonna flip it?” Hell no, brother. Of all the Omegas I could’ve pulled, this one feels like one of the most significant to me. I’m Canadian and I love collecting special serials of fellow Canadians on Top Shot. Being from a town just outside Toronto, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and his cousin Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have always been extra special to me, hometown kids in a way.
This moment perfectly captures the value NAW is bringing to the Hawks this season — a defensive gem who helped spark that huge comeback win over the Knicks. That’s a special moment for the Canadian kid… and the NBA Most Improved Player, might I add. This moment might not be a grail for every collector, but that’s what makes Top Shot moments so special — they mean something different to each of us. I know for a fact I’ll forever get to tell the story of ripping one of my favourite players while baking cookies on a random Wednesday afternoon. As my friends at C&C always say: collect what you love and i'm going to keep doing that.
