Top Shot This!

The newest smash hit set from series 25-26 on NBA Top Shot is “Top Shot This”.

The slogan that brought many of us into collecting in 2021, and the first shirts we saw people wearing from that first summer league kiosk has become a reality in how we collect in 2026. Instant Moments from the games we watched last night felt inevitable and frankly overdue given the nature of the Top Shot product representing the biggest moments in NBA history. Topps Now and Panini Instant have done the thing for awhile now; trying to capture the moment and create cards quickly after the big game or historic achievement.

It was time for NBA Top Shot to get in on this in a more consistent way. The Steph Curry MSFE from S3 and LeBron record breaker anthology from S4 captured the zeitgeist and in a very unique and fun way in their day but it was never really scaled to take advantage of the moments we watch every night.

As someone who is drawn to the emotional and memorable nature of Top Shot Moments, it was very natural for me to get excited about moments minted within 24 hours of them happening and delivered to your collection within 48. The connection we have with the moments of we see and share with others is why sports are so great.

When we got Top Shot This: Playoffs Edition I knew this would be a set I’d love to make feel even more personal in my collection. The Oklahoma City Thunder are the defending champs and as I write this are set for a Game 7 clash with Wemby and the Spurs. It’s going to be epic.

Early in the first round LeBron James had a dunk go viral. What has become his signature dunk we’ve seen many times over the years. The Lakers went on to beat the Rockets in the first round. Would this be his last playoff series win? Would this be his last season in a Lakers jersey? One thing is certain, the Lakers number 23 jersey will always be synonymous with LeBron! I saw the jersey serial hardcourt of that dunk was pulled and went to see if it was listed. It was, but it was a little out of reach for my budget so I threw out an offer I didn’t think would get accepted but figured it was worth shooting my shot. To my surprise, the offer got accepted quickly and I had just acquired my first ever jersey serial of LeBron James! I was pumped. My very limited research says there are around 125 jersey serial LeBron Moments on Top Shot. Scarcity is everywhere if you look around 😉.

I had been patiently waiting for Shai to get a Top Shot This: Playoffs edition moment for a bit and he finally got one when he made Wemby breakdance and touch the ground on a signature Shai baseline middy. This moment is now known among the masses as the ThunderStumble! When his jersey serial hardcourt parallel was pulled and listed I had to pounce! It felt right. It competed the 3 moment pinned collection atop my profile. The 🐐, The MVP ✌️, and the alien 👽.

Collecting is fun. Collecting is personal. NBA Top Shot brings me closer to fandom through sets like Top Shot This. I can’t wait for the next journey I go on.
