Collector Thesis
NBATopShot - first collector | Special Serial Rookies with Conviction | Upside Career Trajectory
April 25, 2026
How I got here
NBATopShot is the only platform I collect on. I don’t collect physical cards, and my love for the NBA along with the digital collecting platform seemed like a no-brainer. Fast forward to present day, and I don’t think I could enjoy the NBA the same way without my NBATopShot collection to follow along.
Core belief
They are a way to prove your fandom and conviction in your favorite teams and players. This is a gateway to experiences like physical can’t compete with.
Highest-conviction platform
NBATopShot. If my moments weren’t accessible via blockchain anymore I would have to leave.
Allocation logic
I solely operate on NBATopShot and the NBA. My life is basketball through and through. I enjoy getting in on rookies early who I think will be good or great. I don’t just buy random moments. I want the #1 and jersey serials of rookies to corner their market. I also like stacking these rookies in season to utilize burning for other things while also making my special serials more scarce.
The tension I hold
I sometimes worry about the tech of blockchain and how it works. I don’t know if it’s truly permanent or not because I’m not that into tech.
Theory of value
All of the above mentioned. Scarcity and athletic performance with the license is the trifecta I key on in the most.
What I'm building
I am building a museum of carefully curated rookies that I have followed since day 1 of their career. I only want their best moments and special serials. Nothing random.
Physical vs. digital stance
The framing doesn't fit — let me explain
I’ve been digital collecting from the start. I haven’t physically collected since high school with Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards.
