Collector Thesis
NBA TopShot- 1st collector | Digital Collectibles Is The Next Wave Of Collectibles | Long Term Values
April 28, 2026
How I got here
I think that I have always looked at digital collectibles as real assets since the beginning. I've been a forward thinking person for years and once I saw everything starting to go digital, I just hopped on the train and held on.
Core belief
they are the present's curiosity and future's assets of our and the next generations to come.
Highest-conviction platform
I actually have 2 long term projects that I'm heavily involved in: 1. NBA TopShot- I don;t know at present what would make me walk away. Currently everything has been vastly improving and the market is getting better. 2. UplandMe- I have been a part of this project even longer than I have NBA TopShot. I love the fact that they take real world land assests, digitize them and sell them as properties on the platform. With them expanding to new countries and cities consistently, the urge to explore and get new properties is always looming. Also with the addition of "Life" into the platform, the sky is the limit to what can be accomplished in this virtual "real-world" take on real estate management and production of goods and services.
Allocation logic
Each platform has a different strategy that I perform. For TopShot, I collect the sets that I love and the moments/players that I personally value. I aim for set completion to garner a higher collector's score so that I can be an active participant in airdrops of special packs/moments. For UplandMe, It's more of a patience game because everything is done in a simulation to real world timing. After purchasing properties, they need development (houses, shops, resturants, etc.) and it takes either a large amount of Sparks (the engine token of the platform) or Time for the construction to be completed. Strategically investing your Sparks into the right construction project an increase a lot of collector's scores when completed.
The tension I hold
That there's a remote possibility that everything will get shut down or hacked into and all will be lost. I can't control the actions of others but I can support what I believe in.
Theory of value
I can't really give a theory because everyone values things differently. There are some people that look at physical collections as a waste of time and resources. So it's really up to the individual collectors and the communities that are tied to those collectibles.
What I'm building
I think digital collectibles will be the norm and that the collectibles from this era will be valued and sought out, just as Bitcoin once was and still is during this age of digital currencies.
Physical vs. digital stance
Balanced — I hold both with equal intentionality
